The Students on Ice Foundation and the Nordic Council of Ministers are bringing together a Nordic and international community of young people on a fully funded North-to-North expedition from Nuuk to Iqaluit from July 6–22, 2026.
A Nordic youth will join an international cohort of young participants on an expedition alongside 35 scientists, educators, and Indigenous knowledge holders. Together, 60 young people will travel from Nuuk, Greenland, to Iqaluit, Canada, exploring the region’s ecology, cultures, societies, and governance while focusing on shared Nordic priorities: sustainability, equality, resilience, and regional cooperation.
The North-to-North Mobility expedition aims to foster intercultural understanding, inspire young people to amplify Nordic perspectives, and contribute to achieving the goals of Nordic Vision 2030. On Friday, the participants will arrive in Nuuk before embarking on the expedition aboard the MV Ocean Nova. The voyage will take them to Qeqertarsuatsiaat, Paamiut, Arsuk, across the Davis Strait, to Torngat Mountains National Park and Monumental Island, before reaching the final destination of Iqaluit.
The 2026 Students on Ice Expedition also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Nordic Arctic cooperation – a milestone warmly welcomed by NAPA.

Susanne Andreasen becomes the new director of the Nordic Institute in Greenland, NAPA. Andreasen has extensive experience in the culture sector and theatre scene in Greenland. Among her other roles, Andreasen was the theatre director at the National Theatre of Greenland (Nunatta Isiginnaartitsisarfia) from 2016

Together with the French photographer Charlotte Lakits, NAPA has created writing workshops for young people. From thought to paper to portray modern young people in Greenland The atmosphere was intense and lively at the two writing workshops so far, which NAPA has helped to realize.
A look back at Suialaa Arts Festival 2025
Suialaa Arts Festival 2025 took place in Nuuk from 23–26 October. The festival is Greenland’s largest recurring cultural event, held every two years. NAPA is proud co-owner of the festival together with Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. This year, Suialaa unfolded throughout Nuuk with concerts, theatre, dance performances, exhibitions, literary events, seminars, workshops and shared meeting spaces for artists and audiences.
