Questions and answers about the Cultural Support Programme

Q: What kind of projects does NAPA support? 

A: From its Cultural Support Programme, NAPA supports projects that are creative collaborations between Nordic and Arctic actors and meet one or more of the criteria of the programme.

Q: I need help with my application. Who can I contact? 

A: NAPA can always advise you regarding your project application. It’s always good to ask for advice in good time before you submit your application.

Q: How do I know what the status of my application is? 

A: You can follow the application process via the application system GrantOne. 

You need to register as a user in GrantOne first. Once you have submitted an application please remember to always use GrantOne when communicating with NAPA on your project or application. Keeping the communications in the system helps us a lot to help you better. 

 

Q: Why do I need to keep my application number? 

A: NAPA receives hundreds of applications every year, and to make sure that we identify each application correctly we need the correct application number. So: Keep it handy, and use it every time you contact us regarding your application. 

 

Q: How and by whom is my application evaluated? 

A: 1) Under 50.000 DKK NAPA’s Director 

2) Between 50.000 DKK and 100.000 DKK NAPA’s chair of Board with NAPA’s Director 

3) Between 100.000 DKK and 200.000 DKK NAPA’s Board

Q: Who decides the criteria for the Cultural Support Programme? 

A: NAPA is a cultural institution under the Nordic Council of Ministers and always works on the basis of their strategy for the cultural area. The Cultural Support Programme is and its critia is in the end approved by the Committee of Civil Servants for Culture. Read more about the Nordic Council of Ministers here. 

 

Q: My project has already started. Can I apply for money for this project? 

A: No. If your project has already started, NAPA can’t fund it. 

 

Q: How long before the start of my project do I need to apply for funding? 

A: A rule of thumb is at least three months before the start of the project. The time differs depending on the amount of money you plan to apply for. Please read more here. 

Q: Can NAPA help me build and write my budget for my cultural project? 

A: We can give you advice on how to build your budget. You are always welcome to stop by for a chat in our office, call or email us.

Q: How do I use NAPA’s budget template? 

A: You are free to use NAPA’s budget template or use one of your own. As NAPA’s budget template is in fact a template, feel free to modify it to fit your project. Should you need help with it, please feel free to contact us. 

 

Q: What kind of costs do I add to my budget? 

A: The budget should cover all the project expenses. We cover for example the following kind of costs:  

  • Travel expenses (for example, transportation and accommodation) 
  • Dailies (for example, food and beverages) 
  • Equipment and materials (for example, props or costumes) 
  • Fees and salaries 
  • Meeting expenses (such as, renting a conference room) 
  • Communications (such as, printing materials and advertising)

Q: Who do I need to involve in my project?  

A: You need to be at least one partner residing in Greenland, and one partner from another Nordic country (Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Åland).  

Additionally, you can involve partners from other countries as well, as long as there are also Greenlandic and Nordic partners present. 

 

Q: Can I get support from NAPA if I’m representing only one Nordic country? 

A: No, you need to have at least two Nordic countries represented in your project. One of them must reside in Greenland. 

 

Q: Why do I need partners from countries other than Greenland? 

A: NAPA is a Nordic institution, and the frames and criteria are goals set by the Nordic Council og Ministers. NAPA works for an integrated Nordic region.

Q: Can NAPA help me to find Nordic / Greenlandic partners? 

A: Yes, NAPA has an extended network of cultural workers throughout the Nordic and Arctic countries and Greenland. Reach out to us if you need help finding them.

Q: Where do I need to use NAPA’s logo? 

A: If you get funded by NAPA, you always need to mention NAPA when communicating about your project, fx on SoMe or in interviews. 

Also, please include NAPA’s logo in all visual communications about your project, fx SoMe or printed material about your project

Q: How much money does NAPA distribute through the Cultural Support Programme? 

A: App. 2.450.000 DKK is given out through the cultural support programme per year. The amount of money is determined by the Nordic Council of Ministers. 

 

Do I need to have funding from other sources when applying for money via NAPA? 

A: No, you can apply even is NAPA is your only source. But sometimes money from other partners, collaborators, and funds, helps you a great deal with spreading out your income and thus securing your funding better.
