Many of you probably know what NAPA does, but who are we? Currently, NAPA, The Nordic Institute in Greenland represents four Nordic countries: Greenland, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Today we’re introducing our event coordinator student Ivaana Olsvig Brandt.
Ivaana was born in Odense, Denmark, but she has lived in Nuuk since she was five years old. She’s studying at NEXT in Copenhagen to become an event coordinator. Currently she’s doing an internship at NAPA to gain practical experience. She started at NAPA in December 2024.
As she’s really interested in the topics NAPA works with, she describes working at NAPA as a dream come true:
“Culture, communication and identity mean a lot to me. I’m especially interested in exploring and understanding the dynamics between Greenland and the Nordic. Getting the opportunity to work at NAPA with event planning feels like a dream come true. “
New interesting projects
Ivaana says start of the year has been exciting and full of learning experiences. She is involved in several projects and tasks, such as planning the Arctic Winter Games 2026 and a book tour for Allatta!. “Allatta!” means “Let’s write!” and is a writing competition that has been held four times in 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2024. This autumn, Allatta! will go on a book tour in Greenland.
Together with NAPA’s director Susanne, Ivaana is planning the cultural program for the Arctic Winter Games that NAPA will be creating. The games will be held in Whitehorse, Canada in March 2026. Soon, NAPA will start recruiting Greenlandic youth to create the performance.
Ivaana is hyped about getting to work with both of the projects:
“I’m really looking forward to continuing the preparation for Arctic Winter Games 2026 and Allatta!”
Thanks to Ivaana, NAPA’s office now has a fresh new look—she decluttered the archives, recycled what she could, and, with her sister and the NAPA team, made the makeover happen.

In her free time, Ivaana loves going for walks and relaxing. She’s also very passionate about her various hobbies:
“I’m a total music nerd, I can spend hours diving into albums, discovering new artists, or obsessing over Beyoncé live performances. I dive into movies and tv-shows and I love getting creative with beaded jewelry, even if my bead collection is slightly out of control. My hobbies might not be wild, but they keep me happy. “
