More and more Nordic and international artists, cultural institutions, film productions, festivals and researchers wish to collaborate with actors in Kalaallit Nunaat. This creates exciting opportunities for exchange and new partnerships \u2013 but it also raises important questions about how collaborations are established and carried out.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NAPA \u2013 the Nordic Institute in Greenland \u2013 is therefore coordinating a process that will result in <\/span>Principles for Respectful Collaboration with Kalaallit Nunaat\u2019s Arts and Cultural Life<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The aim is to develop a practical tool that can help external actors enter into collaborations based on respect, equality, local anchoring and mutual understanding.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The principles will, among other things, contribute to:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">strengthening equal collaborations between local and external actors<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ensuring that Greenlandic voices and perspectives are heard<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">preventing misunderstandings and misrepresentation<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">supporting cultural integrity and self-determination<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creating better frameworks for sustainable collaborations across countries and cultures<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><h5><b>Workshops in Nuuk and Sisimiut<\/b><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a central part of the process, NAPA invites artists, cultural workers, institutions and organisations to take part in workshops where the principles will be developed together with the Greenlandic arts and culture sector.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Nuuk <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8 October 2026, 09:00\u201316:00, Katuaq<\/span><\/p><p><strong>Sisimiut <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 October 2026, 09:00\u201316:00, Taseralik<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants will contribute with experiences, perspectives and concrete suggestions on what characterises good and respectful collaborations between Kalaallit Nunaat\u2019s arts and cultural life and external partners.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representatives from the Saami Council will also take part in the workshops and contribute with experiences from working with similar issues in S\u00e1pmi. Their participation creates an opportunity for knowledge exchange and reflection across Indigenous peoples\u2019 experiences with collaboration, representation and cultural self-determination.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe want to collaborate, but on our own terms. It is important that people coming from outside respect our culture, and it is our responsibility to show them what kalaallit\/inuit culture is. In this way, collaboration between different cultures in Kalaallit Nunaat will become easier in the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 AneMarie Ottosen, project coordinator<\/span><\/p><h5><b>Registration<\/b><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lunch, coffee and tea will be served during the day.
