Nuuk's largest annual film event returns with a festival that takes into account the COVID-19 situation with new program initiatives and a new website

Nuuk International Film Festival (NIFF) was launched in 2017 and has since grown every year with panel debates, workshops, masterclasses etc. In 2020, the festival opened up for films from around the world. The film festival received over 3,000 films from 120 different countries and has now published the largest program to date: 76 pages.

Preparations for the festival have been marked by concerns about COVID-19, and it has long been unclear in which form the festival would take place:

"We are extremely pleased that we are able to have a physical film festival and show films on the big screen where they belong. The international guests who have not been able to come here due to the pandemic are participating via video link, so we’re still able to welcome prominent names to Nuuk ", says festival director Pipaluk K. Jørgensen.

Nuuk International Film Festival is supported by i.a. NAPA, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, Air Greenland and NunaFonden and is arranged in collaboration with Katuaq, Filmiliortarfik and FILM.GL.

Nuuk International Film Festival 2020 takes place from 16th to 19th September 2020
